Information About KGP-560
The KGP-560 Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) incorporates Honeywell’s proven terrain database technology used in commercial aviation systems. It continuously compares aircraft GPS position and altitude with a global terrain database to identify terrain threats and provide early warnings to the pilot.
The unit supports optional terrain display functionality on compatible cockpit displays via KCPB picture bus protocol or ARINC 453/708 interfaces. The system also includes a built-in GPS sensor but can accept external GPS input through RS-232/422 or ARINC 743/743A interfaces.
Additional features include runway field clearance floor protection, altitude monitoring using GPS and barometric altitude comparison, and optional outside air temperature probe integration for improved accuracy in cold weather operations. The system is lightweight, easy to install, and designed specifically for general aviation aircraft.
Key Features:
- Class B TAWS Certification: Meets TSO-C151a and C151b requirements for terrain awareness systems.
- Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning: Provides early terrain and obstacle alerts to prevent CFIT incidents.
- Integrated GPS Receiver: Built-in GPS sensor with support for external GPS data inputs.
- Terrain Display Capability: Supports compatible cockpit displays through KCPB picture bus or ARINC interfaces.
- Worldwide Terrain Database: Updateable terrain database available for multiple global regions.
- Runway Field Clearance Floor (RFCF): Provides terrain and obstacle protection within 5 nm of public runways.
- Multi-Level Alerting: Visual annunciations and aural warnings for terrain caution and warning conditions.
- Six-Color Terrain Display Output: Provides enhanced terrain awareness on compatible displays.
- Altitude Monitoring: Compares GPS and barometric altitude to detect altitude source errors.
- Lightweight and Compact: Designed for easy installation in general aviation aircraft.
