Information About 2090-SR040-18
The 2090-SR040-18 Ultra 3000 servo passive shunt resistor module is a shunt resistor module from the Allen-Bradley 2090 Series of external shunt resistor modules that is designed to dissipate the regenerative energy developed in the drive’s DC Bus. This module is installed on the drive within the cabinet and it remains passive unless it is activated by the drive’s transistor. The 2090-SR040-18 module is only activated via transistor when the system load requires power dissipation beyond the ability and capacity of the drive’s internal shunt resistor. It is recommended to properly size the external shunt module before installation, and a properly sized shunt module helps to regulate excessive “Bus voltage” by moving the current through a resistor, which dissipates the current as heat and thus minimizes the faults caused by excess Bus voltage.
The 2090-SR040-18 shunt resistor module is compatible with the 230 Volts AC and 460 Volts AC rated Allen-Bradley Ultra 3000 servo drives like the 2098-xxx-HV100 drive, and it has a rated resistance range of 40 to 49 Ohms. The 2090-SR040-18 module has a peak power rating of 16 kilowatts and a peak current rating of 20 Amps. This shunt resistor module has a power rating of 1800 Watts (continuous), and it comes with a pre-installed, field-replaceable 6.3 Amps rated Bussman fuse known as the FWP-6.3A14F fuse. The 2090-SR040-18 module is mounted externally on the drive (within a subpanel or a standard NEMA Type 4 enclosure) by using the factory-supplied M6 (0.25 inches) fastening bolts, and it is wired to the drive by using a shielded, high-temperature (75 degrees Celsius, 600V), 8 AWG copper wire. The 2090-SR040-18 module has an operating ambient temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius, and it has an average shipping weight of 8.6 kilograms (19 pounds).
